God speaks about our need to view our relationship with Him and with others from a whole life perspective. Our bodies, connected to the entire body of Christ, reflect the fullness of God when we are in concert with one another.
Resource Ministry Partners' Strategic Ministry Plan is a holistic approach to a church's response to God's call. Just as one part of our body cannot function without the entire body, a church's ministry is weakened if it fails to address the whole life of the church in its planning, funding and execution of ministry.
Strategic Direction and the future
This is the backbone of all solid ministry. Strategic direction encompasses knowing the cultural context of the congregation. It involves understanding the mission, vision (uniqueness), and values of a church and then how to build key directional initiatives that allow the DNA of the church and their God-given shape to intersect the needs, concerns, hurts, and opportunities in a community. Those initiatives then need to be championed by key staff or lay leaders with clear steps and follow-up. This is one of the primary beachheads of ministry activity that often gets a church unstuck from its current plateau or slow decline
There is no doubt that stuck churches (some 92% in the US) are stuck because their leaders are stuck. That means that leadership development from "self-leadership," staff development, key lay leader development, and board/committee development should be near the top of the list for anyone serious about doing effective 21st century ministry.
Organism audit and development
If you have been doing ministry with roughly the same programs you were using 10 years ago, you are about nine years behind. When was the last time you audited the six major areas of ministry, considered their goals and outcomes, and adjusted accordingly so lives could be touched and changed more effectively? For many churches, autopilot is the background buzz that has lulled the system to sleep. An audit of the Big Six P's is the way toward becoming more missional, life changing, and Christ-honoring!
4Q14 Video Training
We live in a sound byte, Ted Talk culture. In keeping with the desire to provide high value content in a manageable and eminently usable format, Resource Ministry Partners has created a year-long series of videos for helping you on a host of leadership, strategic, and cultural issues. The forma is the same in each video — four probing questions are asked through a 14-minute (or less) video that addresses a topic for instant application. Many churches are using these for staff training as well as for team and committee conversation-starters!
